My Aunt in Dallas is the Coolest Person Ever

Since I was a little girl, my aunt has always played a major role in my life. Now, don’t get me wrong; I have always had a great relationship with my Mom. However, my aunt has always been the woman in my life who I could turn to when I thought my Mom was being unfair to me, or when I wanted to talk about something that I wasn’t comfortable talking about with my Mom. I feel very lucky to have had this type of person in my life when I was growing up, because it always made me feel good to know that I had someone I could turn to.

Even though I no longer have to worry about going to my aunt when my Mom makes me upset (since I am now grown up and living on my own), I still have a great relationship with my aunt. In fact, I just visited her this month. The reason I did that is because I was talking to her on the phone, I told her that I was going to have a three day weekend for President’s Day, and once she found about that, she asked if I wanted to fly to Dallas and spend those three days with her.

I thought that sounded like a great idea, so that’s exactly what I ended up doing, and as always, I had a great time with my aunt in Dallas!

There’s Nothing Like a Good Ole Road Trip

I don’t care what anyone else says or thinks; when it comes to the best way to clear your head when things get a little too stressful, I don’t think that there is any better way to achieve this goal than by going on a road trip with one of your buddies. Road trips have been something that I have enjoyed since I was in high school, and although I will admit that my road trips now are much less wild than they used to be in my high school and college days, I don’t think that they are any less fun.

The most recent road trip I took was about three or four months ago. I was getting fed up with the way that things were going at work, so when one of my buddies called me and asked if I was interested in going on a road trip to Dallas with him, it didn’t take me anytime at all to tell him yes.

On the morning our road trip began, we rented a car and took off for Dallas. For the next six and a half days, we drove down to Dallas, enjoyed ourselves for a couple of days and then drove back to our hometown. We had an excellent time, and I felt much better about things when I returned to work.

Dallas is a Nice Place to Relax

Dallas is an interesting place. Although there is no denying that it is a large city (just look at how many professional sports teams call the city of Dallas their home), it doesn’t necessarily function like most other large cities in the United States. Now, don’t get me wrong; this is not a bad thing. In fact, it’s a very good thing, and that is exactly why I like Dallas so much. Unlike many other cities in the United States (which are so large and busy they seem like they no longer have a soul), the city of Dallas has successfully retained the charm and character that the Midwest region is so famous for possessing. People in Dallas aren’t hicks or anything (they have just as much money, if not more, than people in other large cities), but they do take the time to be polite to each other.

Because Dallas possesses all of these characteristics, I enjoy taking a trip there when I need to relax but don’t have the time to go off on a major vacation. When I visit Dallas, I actually usually continue to work during the day, but then at night I’ll hop in my rental car and head off to visit some of my favorite spots throughout the city.

Several of My Friends Live in Dallas

I have noticed that it seems like the older you get, the more spread out your friends become. Obviously, I have friends who live close to me and spend time with me on a regular basis, but many of these friends are people who I have only known for the last couple of years. When it comes to my lifelong friends, just about all of them are spread out through different parts of the country. While I wish that I got to see them on a more regular basis, I know that no amount of distance could ever break the bonds that I have with these people.

Even though I don’t get to see them often, there are times when I get to visit with them. For example, I had to take a business trip to Dallas around three months ago. Since I have several very good friends who live in Dallas, I got a rental car in Dallas when I arrived, and when I wasn’t fulfilling the business obligations of my trip, I was able to drive around and visit with my different friends. They are all great people, and I feel lucky to have them in my life.
