I just got back from one of the best trips of my life to Dallas Texas with my husband and let me tell you, renting a car made all the difference in the world. My husband is originally from Dallas and grew up there before he went to college so there were so many things that he wanted to show me and only so much time to see them. If we hadn’t rented our own car we would never have been able to see half of the amazing sites that Dallas, Texas has to offer.
It’s true what they say about Texas, that everything down there is bigger (we ordered a 72 oz steak in one place!), but that doesn’t mean that you have to pay big at a car rental place in Dallas in order to get a decent ride. Before we headed down there we looked up car rentals in Dallas and were pretty much bombarded with every rental company known to man. My husband got frustrated and just called one of his pals down there and he recommended Avis as the best in town.
I would definitely recommend going with Avis if you have any choice at all, they were pretty reasonably cheap, friendly, and super quick. FYI, if your car insurance covers rental cars you should totally waive the rental companies insurance. Ours did and it saved us about a hundred bucks at least.
Also, it is hot down there. Really hot. So having an AC unit in your vehicle is pretty much priceless. I don’t know how all those poor folks managed riding public transportation down there, the poor things.
